An HCI, like Voice powered by AI, can be great in isolation, but poor when considered as part of a larger user journey.

To put a sharp edge on this: a voice interface would not only suck, but in fact defeat the purpose of playing Tetris. This lack of user-journey fit also applies to non-game domains.

Direct manipulation is superior for the vast majority of human-computer interactions.

Saw this immediately after listening to a chapter of Player of Games. The Culture series is full of voice interfaces (Minds and drones) that are always on task
