Nah, while Conroe did it part it wasn't till Wolfdale with Bearlake/Eaglelake when it fully got both the speed and the cost.

AMD CPUs were still a good price/performance choice well into 2010.

Good times - we will not mention the short lived single core Core Solo used in the Macbook Air.

E8500 was a gem.
