bringing something (like bottle of wine) while visiting someone is pretty normal everywhere around even when invited

now asking people you invited for money to cover your expenses, certainly is not normal in most of the world

apples and oranges, you are mixing up two completely different things

and these people are not really inviting friends or people they know to their place, they just run some small stand from their own home to make money, completely different ocassion/event than having a (birthday) party
