I'd assume the regular readership of Detroit Catholic skews fairly heavily Catholic, and "Catholic expert" is an important (to them) signal as to how seriously they should take the expert's words.
They have a catholic AI "answer engine" trained on official and other authoritative Church teaching sources.
From your "They have a" phrasing, one might assume that the RC Church had an authoritative, official, or sanctioned AI.
Vs. from a bit of searching - nope. The Vatican has explicitly said that none of the various public "Catholic AI"s have any sort of ecclesiastical or papal approval. And at least officially, the Vatican's internal AI tools are only for archival work, translation, and other admin tasks.
