Unless the US has turned from a superpower to a SuperIdiot, why wouldn't it? And note that all these repeated distant deliberately engineered conflicts are specifically meant to try out new weapons, tactics and strategies in the battlefield, test an adversaries capabilities and blooding the new generation of American soldiers.

Netanyahu is a shrewd politician who is really good at manipulating American politicians. That said, the US (especially under Trump) doesn't go on to support Netanyahu's adventurism until it also serves their own self-interest.
IMO, the current Iran operation is entirely politically driven, almost entirely to the exclusion of guidance from savvy military officers and diplomats, and does not represent rational military or diplomatic actions.
Purely the act of a man desperate to distract from L'Affaire Epstein, and who chose a "walk in the park" strike, like Putin, all out of delusions of grandeur and reality distortion.
