Sounds simplistic but I found a multivitamin helped me with speed of recall that I noticed creeping up on me.
Unless they are experimentally inducing this effect (which I doubt, as it would be unethical to induce memory loss), this is all correlation. Biological correlation.
This isn't causation. Turning 50 doesn't trigger anything. Whatever happens is happening due to other factors, and they're tracking it in, predominantly, 50ish year olds.
Correlation isn't causation last time I checked. Even biological ones.
Ah, the cheapest HN retort under every science post ("correlation is not causation").
>This isn't causation. Turning 50 doesn't trigger anything. Whatever happens is happening due to other factors, and they're tracking it in, predominantly, 50ish year olds.
Did anybody said it's some magical time number alone?
Even the title is "WHY our memory slips after age 50", not "Our memory slips BECAUSE OF age 50".
Cheap doesn't mean incorrect.
And the title and article imply causation, your retort not withstanding.
A, yes "Why our memory slips after age 50" - so much causation implying that it's merely the age.
That the post implies it - when it goes through several mechanisms - is even more ludicrous.
everyone has to read this
