IA has been free for 30 years.
It is not free to maintain and it costs millions to run.
Someone else was paying for it so it can continue to be "free" for 30 years.
$40M a year to operate, roughly.
(we must be willing to support the public goods we find value in and wish to persist if we want them to continue to persist)
