Unfortunately, it's terribly slow and laggy on my tablet. It's practically unusable. What makes it so heavy?
I do aim for modern devices. For example I have a scroll observer that will scroll the page inside of the thumbnail as you scroll down so you can preview more of a destination page. Can I ask what tablet are you using?

My main target is Desktop - preferably large monitors - but also mobile - but the experience is a little bit more limited on mobile

It's a Samsung Galaxy Tab S6.

I built HN Glance because I often find that a title, score, and comment count aren't enough to tell me whether an HN link is worth opening.

I'm a visual person, so I've added a visual preview of the submitted page so you can quickly judge whether it's an article, paper, product page, paywall, etc. The screenshot isn't meant as decoration — it's part of deciding whether the source deserves a click.

I've also been experimenting with how to read deep HN discussions. The normal nested comment tree is still there, but there's an optional Discussion Focus that lets you navigate a branch through columns while keeping the selected comment and its path back to the root in view.

The broader idea is to make it easier to answer two questions: is this story worth my attention? and, once I'm interested, is the value in the source, the HN discussion, or links people shared in the discussion?

I'd be interested in feedback on the discussion navigation in particular.
