Completely agree. It has gotten a bit out of hand here and feels like spam. Everybody seems to want to sell their snake oil on this website.

I think it's less about selling snake oil than about exposing people to information and ebooks that are relevant to their interests. A book about using Sublime Text productively? What better place to post about it? Sure, it's good for sales, but it is also completely fitting for the readers of this site.
