I think you have a lot of choices, so it comes down to personal preferences.

Basically this tool will only work against a local set of Maildirs, so your job is to get the mail from the remote host onto your local system in Maildir form.

Off the top of my head that means one of:

* imapsync

* fetchmail

* offlineimap
