the writing has to be somewhat vague in order to get people talking about it, and the author succeeded as evidenced by it being here .

No, I think the author was on to something. They were close to hitting gold, but they stopped short. They presented a lot of what doesn't work, but little of what does.
And certainly being sociopathic, or "slightly evil" are hardly actionable things, and are short sighted solutions.
