Would it be safe to assume, that while you're dealing with some large files you're not typically streaming movies (no Netflix, Hulu etc by maybe some YouTube clips etc) or BitTorrent?

If you mean the NYT paywall? There is none. Yet. Being asked to log-in to a site to view content (still for free) is annoying but it is not a paywall.
