Subtle effects when you scroll can be fun, but this is over the top and distracting.

Of your fixes, did you need to do all of them or was any one on its own suffice to fix the problem?

Small thing: I bought a slate T, and the confirmation page featured a large image of a black T, I had to go and double check the right one had been ordered.

Gave up after a few slides, the stock-imagery was a bit much for me.

This is great, and perfect for a project I am working on. Pity the name is not representative.

Great idea, a couple of small improvements would make it even better: * Use a moving average, to avoid flickery transitions * Animate the text to the target size rather than changing in steps. This wo…

Why? It's a relevant article. If the 'TIL' itself annoys you then that's your problem. There is no correct way to do language, especially on the internet.

I think this is a great idea in principle. Being able to learn and understand the solution quickly on the internet is a very valuable skill. At the same time, there is deeper stuff that really isn't s…

I'd got a bit tired of the vanilla game, but now I'm completely hooked on FTB, a modpack along the lines of Tekkit. The replayability through mods is one of the things driving the success of the game.

Can someone tell me why 'Cat with a wry smile' is in Unicode? Presumably at some point someone thought that it would be useful to somebody else, hence it's inclusion. It would be very interesting to h…

Trying to draw U+1F4A9 (Pile of Poo). After several attempts, no luck. I have learnt that Unicode contains even more weirdness than I thought before though, including 'Alchemical symbol for borax-3' (…

The voting is deliberately anonymous at this first stage. There will be a final round where the speakers for the talks are displayed along with their submissions.

Good article, but the last paragraph had me scratching my head. $250 for a YouTube channel subscription that notifies you with an email? If I'd paid $250 for that I'd be pissed off.

I like the idea, but it's far more spread out than the previous design, and it's a bit much for me. I wish there was a google-like 'cosy' setting allowing me to compress things back a bit.

All the people on the shortlist were legitimate contenders.

Can someone please explain the difference between an organic molecule and a biological molecule?

Great fun, but I'd quite like to link to a certain 'tab' and send it in an email. Sadly, it looks like I'll have to email instructions on how to get to that 'tab', which will be tedious.

As the owner of my broadband line in the UK, I am legally responsible for everything downloaded with my connection. As long as this is still the case, this will never happen. Also, I have to pay if I …

This has been one of my biggest Gmail annoyances - having to open a second Gmail tab while composing to do a search. Really looking forward to this hitting my account.

This actually happened at my university, we had a dinner for 100 people, all called Tom. Proof: http://www.varsitv.co.uk/episode/gh3q9h/Tom_s_Formal_Hall/ …

Just out of interest, how did you discover this?

At time of writing, 59% of trains are delayed. I have very fond memories of train travel in India. I learned a lot about relaxing, and going with the flow.

I was thinking more for a music point of view. How many users could Apple win over into the ecosystem just by letting you sync your iTunes library with your Android phone? I'm thinking a lot.

iTunes supporting Android would be great for Apple. Unfortunately, it would also be good for Google, so it's never going to happen.

The whole business continues its decent into farce if not. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 has been destroyed by this temporary ban. While it's been banned nobody's been developing for it, and there's been no cha…

This is a feasible model, but that's not the way the market is going. Nobody is either making the devices or the docking stations, or even really trying. What we are seeing is a move towards real thin…

I think Jeff and others are grouping laptops in with desktop PCs. For the purposes of this article, I'm pretty sure desktop means a computer with a large, touch-less screen, a keyboard and a mouse.

Can you elaborate? I don't see how having Ubuntu on my phone negates the need for a PC.
