Construction is not a niche industry although I would argue otherwise about illustration. Anyway my previous point was not about those being niche industries but niche use cases as far as iPad users.…

And tons of artists spend their day with Procreate but those are still quite niche use cases.

An eink display is vastly better for reading though. I only use the iPad for reading PDFs because Kindles are too small for that.

The laptop is better in many situations as the screen stands on its own. When reading in bed I use a stand to hold my Kindle at the best position. I would need a much heavier stand to be able to do th…

The Neo is definitely a response to Chromebooks. Apple bet on the iPad for the education market and lost that bet for obvious reasons. This was already obvious 10 years ago when I was working in edtec…

This is not for "serious work". It's for users who spend most of their time in a browser and/or using lightweight apps.

Hasn't this been the case for most Apple laptops?

So Apple is finally "admitting" an iPad is not the right device for certain users/situations.

Not sure if this was available in previous gens but my M4 Pro can run in low power mode. It's amazing. I can work for hours and only use 10-15% of the battery.

Yeah this is a real issue with these new Macs. I would wait until macOS 27 to see the direction Apple takes.

Some of Google's products have really dropped in quality. In the past 5 or so years all the changes I've seen in Search, Youtube, and Gmail have been for the worse.

The price for whatever we're getting out of AI is way too high.

That used to be the case 3-4 years ago. Today Astro is very much a serious contender for dynamic web apps.

Unlike Astro, this looks more like a low effort experiment while making fun of a competitor than a project intended for any serious production use. Maybe I'm wrong. We'll see what happens a …

Tangential but it's amazing in 2026 browsers still don't ship a native DOM morph/merge API like morphdom or idiomorph.

I don't think that's pedantic. Seems like a valid objection to me. So many issues in the client JS world originate from insufficient or bad browser APIs.

The article is reporting what someone from Goldman Sachs said in an interview.

Sure but the issue with AI is results vs money burned.
