I tried to setup a Seafile server a while ago, and it looked kind of slick at first, but it was pretty hard to get up. Lots of dependencies, and then the first thing after I got it running was that my…

To be fair, it seems like they have a point that revocation is actually expensive for them.

Yeah, the MDIL thing sounds like it could have been an LLVM IR derivative. Too bad they always have to NIH things (though I guess in this case there might be legitimate reasons to do something differe…

I've used Google Maps with the new UI for a long time, and it was pretty screwy. It used to be much, much slower than the old UI. These days, performance is a little better, though it's stil…

I particularly love how you can get Server-Sent Events out of a CouchDB database changes feed. This is such a powerful and extremely easy way of sending real-time updates to a web client.

Why not work with apps/projects that are still active? I was thinking of NewsBlur, whose app is open source, I think.

On the other hand, those people can mostly run their own IdP, so they depend on fewer/more trustable parties (just the DNS registrar, and their colo?), but still get the same user experience. Whi…

I don't really agree Persona is trying to sell a silver bullet. If you review the site here, I don't see anything that says Persona is great for all use cases: https://www.persona…

I thought bradfitz's Camlistore talk was interesting (from the Go devroom), so was the Servo talk (Mozilla), as well as the Mailpile alpha announcement.
