Holy shit. You're into something here. Hey, you should immediately send letters to companies like Wallmart, Apple, AT&T, etc. most of them are in Fortune 500 list. They all use functional pro…

No, you cannot realistically learn Haskell in two weeks and jump into industrial Haskell codebase. I mean, it is not impossible - I just never heard such stories. If that was as easy as you think it i…

Alright, jokes aside, let's not get into "measuring dicks" and argue which one is better. I know Clojure, and I know some Haskell. I love both. They both have their strengths and weakne…

What do you mean "the lack of a component system"? There's Mount, Component, Integrant. The last thing any language needs is to "encourage" some kind of programming. And Cloju…

This. I've been using Clojure for a few years. Only once I had to actually use a debugger. Just out of curiosity.

If don't like or do not want InteliJ with Cursive or vanilla Emacs or VSCode, you can still use Vim, Eclipse, Atom, Spacemacs. The days when Clojure could be used only in Emacs are long gone.

Elm's FFI is a bit painful compared to Clojurescript's. With Clojurescript you can target Node, browser or mobile (with something like Re-natal), but it truly shines when you have Clojure on…

My suggestion: - use Clubhouse.io. - If you have no choice but to use Jira - use go-jira (Jira CLI tool). You are a programmer, dealing with Jira is only a part of your job. Reduce the frustration, do…

Haskell is not the only FP lang. Clojure, Elm and Elixir do not require understanding of abstract mathematics. Beside that, basics of category theory is far easier to grok than OOP Design patterns.

Every programmer should at least get some familiarity with Clojure. It maintains extremely good balance between simplicity, pragmatism and safety.

What? Lispers don't hate OOP. Take Clojure for example: it is a FP lang, but deals with OO stuff better than OOP langs. Also: good craftsman knows how to choose a right tool for the job. And bloa…

Yeah, Clojure community probably has less active members than a number of engineers working say for Google or Facebook. But the awesome stuff and ideas it generates all the time is really surprising.

I was smart and lucky enough to switch from Python to Clojure and from Javascript to Clojurescript. I am not even sure anymore what have I liked about Python back then. I know for sure - those who rea…

I've never used Erlang professionally, I'm a Clojure person, but I know that Emacs has a superb support for Erlang. Late Joe Armstrong himself was a well-known Emacsen.

Problem with programming - a solution always looks easier when it is already done. Even when a programmer solves a problem, he/she looks at the problem and the solution and thinks: "I have n…

I like Clojure for many reasons, the main one is obviously REPL. When people say: "Python has a REPL", "nodejs has a REPL", etc. they don't understand what is it so special ab…

- Productivity. Bulding stuff in Clojure is not only joyful but also can give you real (not imaginary, not theoretical, but real, measurable) boost; - Concise syntax. Less code - less bugs; - FP. Immu…

AFAIK FFI and use of existing JS libs is a pain in both Elm and ReasonML (that is my subjective, empirical observation). Purescript is nice, but what would you use in the back-end? Haskell? Or would y…
