It worked terribly on my not beefy laptop (i3 330M) on Chrome (12 fps) and won't even start on Firefox.

The PAL version was slightly below (0.985 Mhz) and the NTSC version slightly above (1.023 Mhz).

They moved away from intrusive lists to vectors in the BFG edition for performance reasons.

It was disassembled years ago, before the source code was made available.

The GPU on the other hand (which is part of the chip) is much more documented on the Raspberry Pi than the Beagle Bone.

I can't seem to find it right now but there is a development journal somewhere of the reverse-engineering and porting of Prince of Persia to the C64 that was done before the game was open-sourced…

It doesn't have anything to do with ARM. Intel used to have an ARM license but they sold it to Marvell just as the iPhone came out.

That was a different Sony company that was hacked. I don't think they share much in common except the Sony name.

The delays aren't random. They last just enough so that the function always takes the same amount of time, presumably the worst-case amount of time.

I suppose you mean ARM by the competitor. AMD certainly hasn't been a competitor for the past decade or so.

A lot? Make that pretty much all. The only things you still find in DIP format are very low-end micro-controllers.

The fact that there is no return journey planned makes a lot of stuff much simpler.
